Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Warriors Table

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a wide array of personalities, and a gripping narrative showcasing angels, fiends, and malevolent powers increasing in strength within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Key plot points for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 lie ahead.

The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced

The latest chapter finished on a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of characters who will branch out from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, separate from the other two tables.

The Soldiers table features Teor (portrayed by Travis), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

Dividing the Cast

Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the start that keeping everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.

That’s why, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Prelude, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three distinct groups: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.

The Nature of the Soldiers Table

According to the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who are drawn to a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where non-violent answers are scarce.

Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might seem mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment show why these particular heroes are best suited for the combat party.

Motivations for Departure

To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a brutal first encounter with The Crow Keepers.

A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose death started the narrative’s action—used The Crow Keepers for his own means, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, striking the character, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.

Casimir then cleared his obligations and fled to a secure base in the remote area, above the city, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.

Character Drivers

Moreover, each character has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, seeks revenge.
  • The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the northern area and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
  • The warrior and Wicander, having defied his house’s orders to kill Teor and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • However, their status as prominent individuals in House Halovar could assist the group reach areas they usually can’t.
  • Additionally, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now follow him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

Lastly, all of them are sought by the powers that govern Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making staying in the city too risky:

  • The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and The healer betrayed the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
  • The target is marked for death by the clan.

This leaves them few options but to travel to the northern region in quest for the antagonist.

Upcoming Developments

According to the latest episode’s post-show segment, we discover that the Soldiers table will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight players to round up the Seekers and Planners parties.

Fans can expect learning which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the season’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
