Government Official Confirms MoD Looking at Security Risk from Vehicles from China, as Staff Advised to Avoid Confidential Discussions in Cars.

A defense minister has stated that the MoD is actively investigating the potential security risks associated with Chinese vehicles, while staff have been instructed to refrain from discussing classified matters in any vehicles.

Safety Guidance for Defence Personnel

In a recent appearance on a radio station, a defence minister addressed claims that Ministry of Defence staff have been instructed not to discuss classified information while riding in Chinese vehicles.

He explained that the ministry is “looking into” Chinese vehicles within its fleets, but noted that safety is a issue in all modern vehicles.

We have a collection of thousands of cars in the Ministry of Defence and those vehicles represent a tiny fraction.
However regardless of if you’re driving a Chinese car or a car from another country, what we’ve asked our people is not to plug Ministry of Defence technology into their car, to avoid having conversations at a secret classification in any kind of car, due to the growing threats of surveillance that are present in every single automobile, to only have those confidential talks in secure locations. This is a wise and sensible thing for everyone worried about security.

After it was suggested that it would be prudent for the MoD to stop using every Chinese vehicles, Pollard replied: That is precisely what we are looking into at the present time.”

Broader Security Background

This announcement comes as claims from Norway and Denmark have alerted the UK to the existence of multi-purpose kill switches in Chinese electric buses, which could enable China to disable buses and cause chaos to transport systems.

Additionally, a Russian spy ship was reportedly shining laser beams at RAF pilots, labeled a “extremely risky” action by government representatives.

This wider defence situation underscores the significance of strong measures and caution in all areas of official activities, from vehicle usage to discussions habits.
